The State of Western Australian is recognised as one of the greatest resources provinces in the world.

Rich in a diverse range of minerals and energy products, WA has lead the way as the nation’s number one resources investment destination, and the economic powerhouse of Australia.

Unprecedented global demand and strong commodity prices have positioned WA as a smart, prosperous and globally significant province.

The state’s resources industry, made up of mining and oil and gas sectors, is large and diversified. In 2008-09 the value of Western Australia’s minerals and petroleum industry grew to $73.1 billion, representing a 19% increase compared to the previous year.

In 2009 there continues to be more than $70 billion worth of projects either committed or under consideration for the State.

The resources industry is strong and resilient and well positioned to continue to deliver important opportunities for the Western Australian community now and into the future.
